Baked food may be all too common in the United States, but you’ll have a pretty hard time finding any kind of baked Thai food, especially if you’re traveling in Thailand! You may find this hard to believe, but Thai people rarely use an oven. In fact, many Thai citizens don’t even have ovens in their homes. So how do they prepare food? Thai citizens love to stir-fry, deep fry, and grill their food to perfection. Given the climate and culture of Thailand, having an oven in the home simply doesn’t make sense. Luckily, their food hasn’t suffered one bit, as Thai may be one of the tastiest cuisines there is.

What about bakeries? Well, the only traditional bakeries in Thailand are in the primarily Thai chinese areas where you’ll mostly find Chinese bread and filled buns. In this region, you’ll also find many western bakeries due to high demand from tourists. If you want to enjoy a real Thai experience and get used to Thai foods, you won’t find much in the way of baked cuisine, but you will find delicious options that will tantalize the taste buds and leave you wanting more!
